Close and Personal

I spent over an hour photographing this Snowy Egret, on my knees and elbows in the waves, which resulted in bloody elbows and a soaking wet shirt. Throughout the time I was photographing this bird, it didn’t mind one bit that I was so close to it. If it wondered to the side, I would stand up and reposition closer to it and it just kept on looking for Sandcrabs. It would often walk towards me and then past me, and on one of those times, I captured this image. It got so close that I was almost unable to get my camera to focus on it! Thanks to the bird being habituated to people walking the beach, it didn’t care that I was so close, especially after staying at relatively the same distance for over an hour.
